Kerry was born in Sutton Coldfield and was educated at Maney Preparatory School, Keyse School, Clifton College Preparatory School and Rugby School. He studied law at Bristol University and gained an LL.B (Hons) degree in 1969. After taking the Law Society final examinations, for which he was awarded the Birmingham Law Society Bronze medal, he was articled to his father at Eddowes, Perry & Osbourne, qualifying as a solicitor in 1972.
He became a partner in the firm in 1975 and on his father’s death in 1977 became sole proprietor of the firm.
Kerry also succeeded his father as Clerk to the Governors of Bishop Vesey`s Grammar School in 1977, a position which he still holds.
Outside work Kerry’s interests are music and local history. He was a founder member in 1975 of the Sutton Coldfield Orchestra, in which he plays violin and he is currently the Orchestra’s treasurer, having previously been its secretary and joint chairman.
He has written and published 3 books on local history, called The History of Bishop Vesey`s Grammar School – the First 375 years (1527-1902), The History of Bishop Vesey`s Grammar School – the 20th Century, and The Street Names of Sutton Coldfield. He is presently working on a fourth book to be called Tales from Sadler House (the name of 46 High Street, Sutton Coldfield).
Kerry is married to Ann, a retired professional violinist and has a step-daughter Joanne, who is married to an American and lives in Seattle.
