Leigh was born in Birmingham, brought up in Handsworth, attended Brook House Prep school in Manor Rd Sutton, then Sutton Grammar School for girls. She was admitted as a solicitor in 1977, having previously obtained a Chemistry degree at Liverpool University and then serving her articles at Cuff Roberts, North Kirk in Liverpool. Following qualification she joined J E Edwards solicitors in Liverpool and became a partner six months later in 1977. In 1979 she left to join up with Kerry Osbourne, who was an old friend, at Eddowes Perry and Osbourne, and she set up the litigation side of the business, practising Family, Civil and Criminal law. She is managing director of Eddowes Perry and Osbourne. After passing the NAEA exams in 2007, she set up an Estate agency (EPO Estates) within the business in 2008. She has been a partner or director of EPO since 1981.
She has a civil partnership with Ann Ballard, her partner of some 23 years, and they share an interest in gardening, music and sports including hockey, skiing, windsurfing and sailing. They share two dogs, a hamster and a few dozen goldfish, and a love of the open air, when they get the chance. |
